PIT Produttori Ittici Trevigiani are pioneers in rainbow trout farming in Italy. Three generations of entrepreneurs have developed a product and created a new market, thanks to their commitment and inimitable Italian flair.
The company’s core business is the raising and processing of trout, a freshwater fish which is an excellent source of nutrients and a safe and wholesome product, due to careful monitoring of every stage in the production process.
The company is currently run by its owners, Marco Fuselli and Paola Salvador, the latest generation in the family which established the business in the Sixties when their paternal grandfather, Bortolo Salvador, decided to embark on a career in aquaculture.
The amount of fish produced each year in the facilities set up by the company’s founders makes it one of the largest trout farms in Italy. Improvements are made constantly and the latest technologies introduced in order to produce top quality, safe trout, which is guaranteed by stringent controls throughout the production process.
Marco and Paola have six trout farms in the provinces of Treviso, Belluno and Pordenone, covering a total of 70 hectares. Thanks to favourable environmental conditions in the area, one of these farms has been certified to produce organic trout.
PIT also has two modern fish processing plants in the province of Treviso, which cover an area of over 1,000 m².
In 2008 the company began the process of qualifying its production and processing activities with the assistance of experts in the field.
The company has adopted Global Gap guidelines aimed at promoting the wellbeing of fish and respecting the environment, it has been awarded “Friend of the sea” certification and has obtained IFS International Food Standard European certification for its processing activities with special focus on safety and food hygiene.
